Study Description

The Township of Lot 17 is located in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. My starting point for this study will be the 1927 Atlas of Province of Prince Edward Island, Canada and the World by the Cummins Map Company. The atlas only covers Miscouche, St. Eleanor’s and Summerside but I will be adding other communities as the study progresses. The 1927 atlas list approximately 200 family units largely Acadian with the main surnames being Gaudet and Poirier. The occupations listed are silver fox farming and potatoes.

Population

This area has grown. The population of Summerside alone in 2011 was 14,751, hence I will be working back from 1927 to try and make the study a bit smaller.
